Creeks leading to the soft shores often carry organic matters that originate from human settlement upstream. Sources include sewage and fertilizers. The anthropogenic organic matters form a part of the diet of soft shore organisms like the filter feeders hooded oyster (Saccostrea cucullata) and mangrove clam (Geloina erosa).
